Well that is one way of putting it - its actually a very comprehensive bibliography of every NZ or NZ related aviation book. There is an indication of how rare each book is an something about it. I think you will be surprised as to what books I have uncovered. The bibliography includes over 130 privately published books by WW2 air men - many of them have been lodged in local libraries but many of them have not. The bibliography is cross referenced by title, author and subject matter - so its easy to find what books there are on a particular squadron for example. remember its only books about NZ aviation or books on aviation written by NZers.
The bibliography has been designed so that it can be used as a catalogue a for a library of NZ aviation books - you could write in it when you bought the book, how much it cost or if it was signed and so on.
If you like NZ aviation or NZ aviation books - this is the book for you.
Is that helpful?

Does anyone know when the pre-release orders will be sent out?

I can answer that .
I apologise for the delay - I seem to have encountered quite a few issues not the the least of which was terminal ilness with my young sister which knocked me off the rails.
I am back on the rails now (well as much as I can be) and I have worked through all the technical issues with printing and publishing and can report that the book is with the printers and I have the proofs to hand.
I expect it will be printed next week - however in the end I decided to get it printed in China because of cost so transport back to NZ could take a wee while.
The end is in sight - I hope its worth the wait.
Cheers
Larry

I'm very sorry to hear about your sister mate, and the delay is wholly understandable in the circumstances. Having seen the drafts of this book I can assure everyone it's worth the wait.

Hi larry, Hope life is getting back on track for you - been through similar stuff myself, but had to deal with two sudden deaths (wife and mother) some years ago, so can understand.
Any idea when the book will be available? It is keenly awaited! Les

Larry is currently in Australia again I believe, as his sister is now very poorly. However before he left a few days ago he told me the first batchj of books had finally turned up from the printer and so when he returns home, it should not be too long before some are dispatched I think. It's such a shame that poor Larry has to deal with such an awfully sad ordeal at the same time that the book he's worked years to get finished and published is finally about to come out. He said he'd really happy with the copies that turned up, and so it sounds like it's well worth the wait.

Thanks for the update, Dave. It must be a hell of a struggle dealing with his sister's illness and trying to get the book off the ground as well. My thoughts are with him.

I've got my copy! ;D
It was in my PO Box when I emptied it out on the way to work this morning. I've had a cursory look at it and it looks like it was definitely worth the wait. I'll take a more through look through the book when I get home from work this evening.

I got my copy today too. I have just spent several hours perusing it and sending emails of praise to Larry for an excellent job well done. It is a bloody amazing resource! Well worth the wait and the money. Every kiwi aviator and aviation fan should have one on their bookshelf.
I will be doing a proper review soon.

Yes, got mine a couple of days ago - been busy perusing this magnificent publication. A tremendous contribution to NZ's aviation history in that it pulls together a wide range of resources, makes the enthusiast salivate at the range of material published and unpublished covering NZ's history. It's just a shame that there are a large number of unpublished memoirs stashed away in repositories inaccessible to many of us. I can only hope that someone can find a way to bring these into the public arena someday. Could be a money earner for the families of those who wrote the originals.
Again a great contribution, Larry, and I hope all is as well as it can be with you and your family.

Still waiting for mine but I ordered the paperback so it might not be ready yet. Am very much looking forward to seeing details of the unpublished manuscripts.
Larry has been instrumental in helping books get published to date so throw this on top ... what a contribution to aviation history!

My paperback copy arrived yesterday and it is superb. I've already used it for reference and love the 'rating' system used for relevance and rarity.
