Superb painting. And for such a good cause, well done. Have you done any more aviation paintings?

Since the auction I have been very privileged to now meet Max. A great guy. The next I painting I am going to do is of his Spitfire "Wapawa Express" for him as a thankyou for his time and generosity he has shown me.

This is pretty much finished the painting is of Flt.Lt .John Henrys Hawker Typhoon of 175 Squadron based at Le Fresne Camilly in Normandy late June 1944. As you can see from the first time up I have changed quite a bit on it. Thankyou all for your comments I have only been doing aircraft since December last year. What I would like to do is a series on the NZAF.

Brilliant. Do you do them on commission or is it a hobby? The Hurricane and Typhoon paintings are excellent. Do you do prints of your works?

It started as a hobby but it has grown to be more than that. I am looking to do canvas prints of the painting for a local shop ihere in Napier as they would like to sell them. Just looking into the cost and seeing if it viable. I have done other paintings of different subjects which I have sold. The Hurricane is for sale. The typhoon I have decided still has some work to do on it as the trees are to over powering. Thanks for the nice comments. Cheers Don Wilkie

Beautiful painting, well done. The subtle trees made a big difference.

Great paintings and ,yes, the subtle trees do make a difference. Like the way you have him running which is very realistic. Around Normandy it's mostly apple trees. Your work is so much better than some of the high priced offerings by some of the big-name artists, especially UK ones, who offer some rubbish at times.

well the presentation to Max Collett of the painting I did of his Spitfire at Ohakea yesterday didn't happen we couldn't find him so I am went around to his place today and gave it to him. I have put it into a white square frame. He seemed to really like it.
