Wowed at the mere thought of what the F-105 display would have looked and sounded like....... Sometimes I think I was born about fifteen years too late. I could always ask Dad though, since I think he was stationed there at the time.

The Bleriot was a replica constructed by Golden Age. Don't think it ever flew - taxii only? (Note no mention of 'flight' in the programme!) It's the one now hanging in the atrium at Wigram.

No, the one in the Atrium of the RNZAF Musuem was constructed specifically for the musuem by two Dunedin chaps, Dave Comries and Colin Hay. The project began in 1985 and was completed in 1987 just in time to be hung up. It is purely static, and never had the capability to taxi.
there was a seperate project in the early 1980's that comes up in snippets in Wings now and then around that time of one being built to fly. But I have never heard of the replica exisiting in the 1960's. Where was it based? Who owned it? What was Golden Age?

Yeah I noticed the Bleriot there and wondered what the storey was - I'll ask my dad - he might know as he went to this air show. No Air Shows from 70s unfortunately (I had a programme from an Air Show at NZNP in 1973 but I have misplaced it). There weren't many during this decade anyway (fuel crisis etc) From now on are Airshows I remember Aviation Showcase 1980 - Hamilton Airport -November 8 & 9 1980 Air Force Open Day Ohakea 1981 (exact date - not sure). This is one Air Show that is really burnt in my memory - F-15s, Mirages Canberra, F-4Es etc. First time I have seen up close USAF & RAAF combat aircraft ..and the last time when it comes to USAF combat aircraft

The Bleriot was a replica constructed by Golden Age. This has bugged me for ages, do you know when this replica was built, where it was built and what became of it?? It's definately not the one in the Air Force Museum, that was built as I say over the period of 1985-87 and is well documented (see NZ Wings Dec/Jan 1987 for example). It's not the one in the Paraparaumu Southwood car museum as that replica (a Vickers Type 22 "Bleriot") arrived in NZ in January 1970 (it did appear at a Paraparaumu airshow taxiing there in 1970 before being entombed in the car museum). So where is this Golden Age replica now? Does anyone know? It is not even mentioned in Ross Macpherson's detailed article on New Zealand Bleriots in that Wings issue mentioned.

I very vaguely remember visiting a car museum quite a few years ago that had a Bleriot, along with a Vampire jet, hanging from the ceiling. (at least I'm pretty sure it was a Bleriot) I'm 95% sure it wasn't the Paraparaumu car museum, I think it may have been the central North Island somewhere.

The Southwood Museum at Paraparaumu also has a Vampire and a Tiger Moth along with its replica Bleriot. I can't think of any other car collections with a Vampire.

Ah, well that would be it then! Didn't realise I'd been to Paraparaumu before, apart from a flying visit for fuel on my way to Nelson back in 2007.
