Ok, so there are one or two Free French photos as well. If anybody wants an original size version, just message me with the number of photo and I'll email the file to you. [a href=" "] [/a] Photo 1 [a href=" "] [/a] Photo 2 [a href=" "] [/a] Photo 3 [a href=" "] [/a] Photo 4. Awesome, some very interesting photos there. I had seen the shots of Scatterbrain before somewhere, and Poopy II (I think there may be decals available for models of both aircraft, not sure now). But the rest are new to me.
Wow that hangar in India is massive!
Interesting to see the two-seat P-40E!
Is that a Martin Baltimore in Photo 23?

Yes very interesting photos. What colour are the repainted P40s? Seems to be a light colour?

That's the airship hangar built for the R101 in Karachi ( still part of India then) The USAAF had a huge training and maintenance complex in the Karachi area covering several airfields for their units based in the CBI. These fields are still visible today but the hangar is long gone.

Baz, I'm thinking they are the desert pink colour. I've seen colour photos of them before. I don't know if the paint was supposed to be pink, but it certainly seemed to fade to a shade of pink after a while!
Martin Maryland is what is written on the back of the photo Dave. Although the Baltimore and the Maryland do look almost the same, so it could be Baltimore's in the photo.
In the fullsize, you can't quite read the code on the Maryland to the left, but the aircraft does look to be longer than a Baltimore to me.

The RAF certainly painted Photo Reconnaissance Unit aircraft in pink in the desert, so the paint on these aircraft may well be a pink as applied.

Loved seeing a PRIX Spitfire flying in this colour, something different to see. I also read somewhere that some of the US P40s olive drab paint faded to a pinkish hue? There was (or is ) a P40 painted pink in the US flown by a female pilot who ferried aircraft in the US during the war (mainly transports and bombers)

Ah yes that's the one. I remeber reading that she always wanted to fly a fighter during the war but never did so finally got the chance of course after the war. I think there was talk of flying it again but don't think it did.
