A lesser number of new registrations this month, maybe the great recession is biting. Just 10 new arrivals, and 5 of those are the first of the batch of 12 Diamond DA 40s for Massey University. Registered ZK-MTA through MTE, they all have previous US registrations presumably for their test flights. They are being assembled at Ardmore by Hawker Pacific, the NZ agents.
North Shore Helicopters have obtained a new Eurocopter EC 130 B4 c/n 4655 and registered it as ZK-IMR/2. The previous bearer of these makings, EC130 B4 c/n 3938 has taken up the registration ZK-IFC.
Advanced Flight Ltd have also listed an even newer B4, c/n 4709 and that becomes ZK-IXW.
The other three slots have been filled by ZK-JLS/2, a Rans S-7S Courier for a Christchurch owner, ZK-JZL another PAC 750XL and ZK-NFB/2 the latest DHC-8-311 for Air Nelson.
Among the ownership changes Stuart Tantrum has passed Tiger Moth ZK-BMY to a Palmerston North owner. One of our oldest Cessna 172s, A-model ZK-BWN which was originally owned by the North Otago AC and then a firm in Temuka before moving north for many years has now returned to the mainland with P J Blake, Invercargill.
Bay Helicopters Ltd. of Tauranga obtained R22 ZK-HLU/3 in mid-2006 and have now returned this to the dealer, Heliflite Pacific Ltd., Ardmore.
The RNZAF Base Auckland Aviation Sports Club at Whenuapai have had an on again/off again relationship with Tomahawk ZK-PAF. They are operating this once again, alongside another Tomahawk ZK-EZG.
TL TL-2000 Sting ZK-STG seems to have a change of beverage, with the ownership moving from the Afternoon Tea Club to the Afternoon Coffee Club, both based at Albany.
Cessna 172R Skyhawk ZK-OUI ended up in the sewage ponds at Thames in October 2008 after engine problems on a go-around at Thanes airfield, causing much ribald comment at the time. After this incident ownership was transferred from CTC Aviation to Aeromotive Holdings Ltd. who were presumably doing the clean-out. Now the aircraft has been resurrected as ZK-JZM.
Rex Newman's Vans RV7A ZK-REX/4 has had one line of the registration painted out to become ZK-RFX, presumably to make way for REX/5 in due course.
Of the cancellations, Qantas/Jetconnect Boeing 737-376 ZK-JNO/2 will not be heading back to Oz with the other 737s, it has been grounded at Christchurch as a training aid.
Auckland Aero Club have had Cirrus Design SR20 ZK-SRL on-line since early 2007, this has now returned to the land of sunshine to become VH-SRL once again.
