Rolls Royce has just finished installing the first of two MT30 marine gas turbines in the new RN CV QE2. This is the most powerful marine gas turbine in the world and generates 36 Mw (around 50,000hp). It is derived from the Rolls-Royce Trent 800 with 80% commonality.

wonder what it's MPG is. would they use the heat from it and the exhaust to power other things in the ship.

Wouldn't want to pay the fuel bill. I don't know about the heat but I suppose you could engineer a good heat transfer system. The two engines make up two thirds of the power generation system so not sure what the third unit is. Was thinking Baz might want one to power his Auster Sure would be the quickest Auster around ;D

I think baz would be left sitting on the tarmac scratching his head and wondering where his beloved Auster has gone... with only a seat and joystick in his pocession....
