I got a heads-up this evening from a RNZAF IT-instructor (based at Woodbourne) who posted on a general news forum messageboard that the skies over the top of the South Island are going to be busy over the next few weeks as the RAAF carry out mountain-flying training around the St Arnaud area with Blackhawk helicopters and C-17 transports. I don't know where the C-17s will be based, but he seems to think the Blackhawks will be overnighting at both St Arnaud and Woodbourne during the training exercises.
