A house has already been destroyed and others evacuated as a scrub fire rages near Prebbleton. There are a couple of grass fires in the Sockburn area.

Living here in Rolleston, oohhhhh the flames, the plummetting fireballs, the suffocating smoke, do we run, do we hide........ jump into the pool and swim for it hun.. We don't have a pool cause you wanted the big screen and spend all the money on aviation things, so what do we do now.......................................

So we don't need to go to Australia to see bush fires, we've got them here at home.

yeah and the local volunteer siren went of a few times during the night for call outs. And more today. Driving around , it is so dry in the farm paddocks, you can see why it doesn't take too long to spread from one to the next.

I heard that the fireys reckon it was some Auster parts that was the cause. Anyone seen Baz? ;D;D On the serious side she'd be a fair mess and feel real sorry for those four families who lost their homes especially the ones who have no insurance because the insurance companies won't sell insurance cover to many in Christchurch.

Very sad for the folks that lose property, fire is a fear of mine, looking at fireproof safes at the moment as I'm upgrading house security.
Interesting to see the cop at the 2min mark in the video with a sidearm, is this becoming common? I thought it was only in certain 'circumstances'?
