Here is NZ1819 at the School in 2004. The hangar was cleared out for the annual anniversary cocktail party and '19 was left on display in the corner. Barf - I'm sure the Historic Flight guys will see fit to restore the original paler blue.

Paul, I suspect the multi training will fall to the Q300/s when it/they are purchased.

There was a dark royal blue coloured VIP Devon when I was at 4TTS in 1989 too. Is this a different scheme? I have a photo of it somewhere but it's pretty poor. I found that old photo, it was defiantely taken in 1989, so does this mean that this is the Zenith blue scheme before it was painted? It doesn't look too different to me.

Well that pic must have been taken in the latter half of 1989. I did my Techs course (along with Hughesy) in '89 and finished in July. We finished a week early and amongst other fabulous tasks, had the pleasure of spending most of the week rubbing a Devon down with MEK to prep it for painting. I'm 99% sure it was NZ1819. It still looks great 21 years on - any painter will tell you its all about the prep !!

I was at Woodbourne from January to July 1989 and was posted to Whenuapai in July. I never returned there till 2004, apart from one brief stop-over in a Hercules in which we didn't get out of the plane. So it has to be from January to July 1989.

I wonder which one it was then. Of course back then there were only four Devons at Woodbourne. Later there were six when I was there from 1998, but that dropped to 5 after we ditched 1820 which sat outside and was a mess.

sorry - pushed the go button too soon - the TTS Devons have over the years had many pieces off and on a good MANY times , would have liked to have been part of the team to over haul the engines prior to flight - is the A/C flying now ? TF

Two other Devons were disposed of April/May 2011. Any other details? What sort of details? They were sold to Mit and one was restored and flew for a while, not sure if currently airworthy

NZ1805/INST219 is the flyer as ZK-ZKF, I'm afraid I don't know the second.

Interesting registration for NZ1805 "ZKF" when in service its radio callsign prior to 1970 was ZMZKD and NZ1806 was ZMZKF
