Greetings kiwilogger75 ! Welcome to the forum. I have been looking for, and collecting info, on this matter for sometime. At the moment, (as it is all printed out and recorded on paper), it is in a cardboard box. The box, although undamaged, is in that storage depot that just burnt down at the north end of Wellington Airport. Access is difficult and will be for a few more weeks. What does a man do, laugh or cry ? However I can give you a lot of info when I can get at it. I started my enquiries at the Rere school which lead to the Rere Residents Assoc or Community group etc. From there I went back to the Rotorua Library and the National Library in Welly. Have established U.S unit numbers etc. Cheers, Mikey52 (Previously Mikey51).

As to the existence of actual former airfields in NZ, I can think of Delta, Waimakariri, Harris Field, and Norwood (Burnham, not to be confused with a new Burnham field built near Army camp in 1960s). These were all satellites for major fields, and there were many of these. Top House was another one. Most training stations had two or three satellite landing grounds (SLGs), and there were also ALGs (Advance Landing Grounds) for operational stations, such as Waipapakauri (already mentioned) for Whenuapai. Not unsurprisingly, some airfields have had alternative names, just to confuse those who came along later. David D
