Some great film footage of a Pan American Boeing 314 Clipper flying-boat alighting on the Waitemata Harbour and arriving at the Mechanics Bay terminal in 1941. Also footage of ZK-AMA “Aotearoa” alighting.

Here's a photo that Richard Stowers has found and sent to me for the forum. It has the date March 1937 on the back, and it a Pan American Clipper at Auckland's flying boat terminal.

“Pan American Clipper II” commanded by by Edwin C. Musick. It was on the first Pan American survey flight to New Zealand.
The same flying-boat was renamed “Samoan Clipper” for its second flight to NZ in December 1937. It arrived the day before Imperial Airways' S.23 Empire Boat “Centaurus”, commanded by Captain Jack Burgess.
“Samoan Clipper” didn't make it to Auckland on its third trip, because it blew-up in mid-air after developing engine problems and turning back to American Samoa.
The National Library website has a few photographs taken in both March 1937 and in December 1937 in the Alexander Turnbull Library section.
I'm currently travelling on a train and the URLs to those photographs are stored on a memory stick which is at home.

An audio recording from Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision of a radio broadcast covering the arrival of the Pan American Sikorsky S-42B flying-boat “ Samoan Clipper II” at Auckland on 26th December 1937. This was the second visit from this flying-boat. It had flown an initial survey flight to New Zealand in March of the same year while named “ Pan American Clipper II”. The following day, Imperial Airways' Short S-23 Empire flying-boat “Centaurus arrived at Auckland. • 1937 PAN AM SAMOAN CLIPPER
