His responsibilities included the planning, direction and control of aircraft, personnel and equipment and in the performance of his duties he proved himself to be a most co-operative, willing and loyal member of the RNZAF. Passed away peacefully at Atawhai Assisi on 26th February 2020 in his 97th year. Dearly loved husband of the late June, treasured father of Dianne, Sharon, Cushla and father-in-law of Andre, Ian and Robert. Loved brother of Noreen, Brian (deceased) and Judith. Adored Grump of all his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Requiem Mass will be held at St Matthew's Catholic Church, Silverdale Road, Hillcrest, Hamilton on Tuesday 10th March at 10 am. 'Requiescat in pace'

Sad news, Noel was a very interesting chap. He was a pilot with No. 486 (NZ) Squadron flying Typhoons and was shot down over France in December 1943. The Resistance hid him till after D-Day when he was liberated. He was living in the home of the head resistance leader for the region when the Germans took the leader prisoner, to Amiens prison. Noel actually saw the Mossies and Typhoons pass overhead as they went to bomb the prison. Great guy, who sadly declined to be interviewed due to his modesty.

Askew Maurice RAF 1098180 on Saturday 29 February in Christchurch Maurice was a flight engineer on 207 squadron Lancasters and was shot down on their secon op in February 1944. He spent the rest of the war in Stalag Luft 3. Maurice was a very good artist and produced many sketches of camp life . He also painted much of the scenery used in camp plays .

A service will be held at St John's Golden Church, 149 Kamo Road, Whangarei at 11:00am on Tuesday 3rd March 2020 followed by a private cremation

Passed away peacefully in Wellington on February 28, 2020, aged 97 years. WW2 Bomber Command, RSA Life Member, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, ZL2WW. John had a long teaching career in Blenheim and was a guide and mentor to many people. Much loved husband of the late Marjorie. Loved father and father-in-law of Anne and Ian, David, and Peter and Shirley. Beloved granddad to his 3 granddaughters Lisa (and Willem), Aleesha (and Richard), and Rachelle. Great- grandfather of Ayden, and Isabelle. The family have appreciated the kindness and care given to John by the staff at Malvina Major Village in the past few years. A private cremation has been held.
