I have shifted this excellent thread into the Postwar and Modern RNZAF Board as most if not all the crests are postwar RNZAF

Just a small point - these are badges, not crests.

Sean, I'd be mighty impressed and appreciative if you found anything to do with No.18 (fighter) Sqn from WWII....
Cheers

Cheers S2K I had a good look around, and had another look in the NZAP 3327, and there is nothing on 18 Sqn RNZAF. This would mean they never had an official Badge, but they may have had an unofficial Badge..... Maybe the RNZAF Museum could help, as they are the vested RNZAF "holders" of RNZAF Badges....

Several squadrons had unofficial badges, but they have to be Approved by His/Her Majesty to be in the book I guess. The Wellington (Territorial) Squadron had one, No. 3 (General Reconnaissance) Squadron had one long before Ned came along, and No. 30 Squadron had one.
A possible place to find he unofficial badges would perhaps be unit Christmas cards. However with No. 18 Squadron they probably used RNZAF Fighter Wing cards rather than the specific squadron printing some.
