Fantastic photos. Boy we could do with a morale boosting flypast of those three down here at the moment. The sound of 3 Merlins singing together overhead would lift everyone's spirits!

Thanks also for all the great photos, good to see from other perspectives. Mine was slightly precarious, perched on top of my car to see over the perimeter wire! Must see what's involved in joining the golf club there - what a view they had!
And especially enjoyed the video, thanks McFly.
Looked like it was a nice day for the vet's, some of whom still look in pretty good nick I have to say!

Formation flying, in my book, is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Looked like it was a great display.

Ok guys, here are a few of the 'official' ones. The whole reason for the weekend - Spitfire pilots from 485 (NZ) Sqn. Doug Brooker suiting up for his display in his Tr.IX. SQNLDR Sean Perrett - pilot of PV270 Graham Bethell in his P-51 Waiting Start up. Taxi out Two Spitfires taxi out together for the first time in NZ for many years. More to follow...

Brilliant shots Marty, many thanks mate.
For those wondering, the pilots in the group shot are from left to right: Maurice Mayston Doug Brown Max Collett Ken Lee Dave Iggo Harvey Sweetman Owen Hardy
What is that helmet that Sean Perrett is wearing? Did he bring that from the UK or have our fighter pilots got new helmets?

Great pictures Mc Fly . The quality of the photos on this posting is just world class . I must ,I must do better at Omaka. Looking at the pictures again I think Graham Bethells display in the P51 was very very special.Thank you Graham.

Hear hear. But then I always think Graham is a top display pilot. His Mustang displays are a very welcome thing at any airshow. We're so lucky in NZ that he retained the P-51D here, and that he is so willing to take it around the country and show it off many times per year. Something we should never take for granted.
