This subject just qualifies for wartime RNZAF I think...
I recently managed to pick up a lovely piece of wartime memorabilia on TradeMe. It's a Peter The Pilot on Active Service cereal card Album (in the style of the old Weetbix cards, now defunct), but this was put out by the Diamond O-TIS porridge brand, who hailed from Timaru.
This is one in a series of albums/card collections it seems which must have been very popular with children during the wartime years, because Peter The Pilot also had a show on the ZB radio network for kids too back then.
Anyway, this album has places for the collectable cards that were found in the box of oats, and though only two cards have been stuck into the album sadly, there are write-ups for all those which haven't been.
It's got some RNZAF connections, or NZ'ers in the RAF at least with Cobber Kain, Al Deere etc who had their own cards.
I really like this nice collectable piece and I thought I'd share it with you all as some of you may also enjoy a nostalgic read from this 1941 book. Here are scans of the album. Neat pictures on the covers eh!
