Thank you for the thoughts guys.
Yes it was a fairly action packed day/weekend, and memorable as I am now an OAP. Therefore I'm now entitled to be irascible, irritable, and fall asleep anywhere and at any time. Be warned.
We got a 'worm' on the computer during the week, and so Nephew Neil got a visit to apply his de-worming skills. Had to pick up the now healthy computer box from him on Friday morning (as Meredith could not face a weekend without her email) and then a family lunch. For the evening, we visited downtown Auckland. A nice fine evening, so entrée and a few drinks on Princess wharf watching the ships go by. Then repairing to a restaurant in the viaduct harbour for a more substantial meal and time to watch Auckland's Beautiful People at play.
It's amazing how little the majority of the young women wear when they are out and about. Quite a feast for the eyes, though. Meredith commented on the number of unattached men in the crowds. I remarked that perhaps they are attached, but not in the conventional sense. That earned me the rebuke of the night.
After a most satisfying session, we repaired to the waterfront Copthorne Hotel, where a corner suite on the 11th floor suited us just fine. The harbour is surprisingly busy at night, but our reveries were somewhat jolted when I turned on the television in the room (for the weather forecast you understand) and we ran into the news items about the Japanese earthquake. So sad.
So a latish start the next morning, breakfast then a stroll down to inspect the Queens wharf/Shed 10 development. Later in the day off to a friends 70th birthday celebrations so I'm not that old after all. Finally, gluing the computer back together today.
The aeros thing has been a bit on the back burner recently. I had to stop to cope with the pre-Christmas rush, then three weeks in French Farm/Akaroa/Christchurch/Ashburton/Wellington (Hi Marcus!) took care of January. February meant renewal of my aviation medical, then a friend wanted 5000 paua spat freighted from Whangarei to Blenheim. A bit of a event (including my first all-by-myself over Cook Strait) but I can boast that only 10 of my passengers died during the trip so I guess thats some sort of a record.
The good news is BAD. Well, not so bad, cause its a 152 Aerobat thats now based at Whenuapai so I don't necessarily need to commute to Ardmore to go upside down.
It all makes the hours fly by. Then Vanuatu later this year. Anybody got friends at the Segond Channel?
Onevar.
