Thanks Bob. John King sent me a disc of high res images from the photo shoot and today I had the Printery at work print some up as A2 posters... Really nice. and yep - I need the weather to improve - especially during the weekends. very annoying being stuck at work on nice clear frosty days....

Nice pics. I'm having to bash circuits at Hamilton as I have been getting noise complaints at Te Kowhai. Hopefully I will be checked out in it soon - unfortunately my wheeler landings on the 36L seal today were pretty ugly - a bounce on seal is a big bounce! I am working on some extended tailpipes which should hopefully tame the bellow on takeoff and avoid the operational restrictions.

Sounds like you have the Auster landing traits built in then Bruce? You'll have to give me some tips!

Well, I was out bashing circuits at Hamilton again today and managed to get most of the wheelers to stick. I have now finally got my rating in the machine (at last!) and as soon as my test pilot approval come through from CAA I'm able to blast around solo, burning off the last few test flying hours. CKE is very much like an Auster, it requires plenty of rudder and needs to be set up nice and stable on approach, then just use really subtle adjustments to keep it running down the groove. It is very stable, but you dont want to start chasing the approach with big inputs. The wheelers were just my personal bogey - theres a fine line between nailing them and fouling them up completely, and it really is a mind game to get them to stick..... Will have to keep in practice!

Well done Bruce.
A triumph of persistence, both in the build and in the rating.
May I book a flight once all the test flying is complete?

I've just re-listened to the above interview and it's given me renewed respect for what Bruce has achieved, and admiration.
Well done my man!

This weekend I flew CKE solo for the first time, with two flights yesterday morning, and a flight from Te Kowhai to To Kuiti this afternoon. Its been an awesome weekend to be flying, with light winds, clear skies and amazing visibility. it really nice to be able to get out and enjoy the plane. Below are some pics I took this afternoon at Te Kuiti: Ouside the historic clubhouse at Te Kuiti (Originally a Grandstand when the site was the town racecourse) and some photos on way way north again - internal reflections were a bit of a problem, but you get the idea of how nice the day was! Now, historians will of course note that this isnt the first time there has been a CKE at Te Kuiti - the original user of the Rego was a Bennett Airtruck - built on the airfield in the 1950s!

Note also the new exhaust tailpipes in the photos - these have worked really well - the aircraft is much friendlier to the neighbours - and I dont have to clean the exhaust stains of the fuselage sides!

Great photos Bruce, looks like they've tidied up the clubhouse at Te Kuiti since I was last there, it looked a bit dilapidated.

I worked at TeKuiti in 1958! The AeroClub grandstand was a bit dilapidated then--looks good today! Some great social hours in there! The Club had a Miles Magister and a Messenger. flew in them both, but I wouldn't today!!!
