Wow, this brings back memories, I was in a recruiting movie made in 1967 when I was at ACS, the scene was Airman Cadets relaxing in the Marlborough Sounds with their girlfriends, then again in another one at Ohakea in 86.

I have just had a chance to view the film. Very interesting to see. A few points and queries: Note the officer inspecting the barracks is not correctly wearing his tie! It's halfway up his guts! . Yes, very sloppy to be applying a standard of dress to which you don't comply. I left in'82 [Hence Phil[osophical] 82] but never spent any time at WB so I don't recognise him. I had completed ten years service when I attended the "Charm School" at Wigram in 1968 and on that course of ,I think, eight of us, five were "Direct Entry" Flt Lts. One was a Psychchiatrist, apparently employed to change the way the air force taught people! Nice guy but hopeless in so many ways. We also had a Flt Lt , later Sqn Ldr, Bill Hopper, who was a professional film maker, who was around for many years. I still bump into him now and then but he'd be in his early 80s now. Now poor old Bill walked with a slight limp, and carried a walking stick, and I was stunned one day to see him as Orderly Officer at Shelly Bay saluting while leaning on his stick as the DNCO lowered the ensign. I think Chris Carde might have been CO at the time and when he came in next day I had a quiet word and Bill never did OO duty again!

Somewhat bittersweet viewing for me that one. From memory it was launched during a repeat screening of the BBC "Fighter Pilot" series on TV1 in early 1989, and it quickly became my favourite ad when the RNZAF was still my first choice as a career, only to discover a few years later I had no chance at all of ever being a part of it. The volleyball clip and the inevitable Top Gun comparison is kind of amusing 25 years on though, as is the fact that half the aircraft featured are still in service

I think it is older than that, I am sure it was on TV a lot during the time I was going through my recruitment process, and I joined in January 1989. Unless it was only playing up this way earlier and didn't reach Wellington till later?

The officer inspecting in the barracks was Sqdn. Ldr. Froggatt. Was a GSI corpral when I went there on 19BES in 1962

Yes that tie caught my eye as well. I recognised 2 people, one avionics and one armourer.
