I'm loving it Don, sat with my nose stuffed in it all last evening and well into the small hours of this morning. It's an impressive achievement of research and love of the subject by you and Nick and a wonderful testament to the skill and professionalism of the RNZAF's ACF. You must be mighty proud of it Don. And I hope you sent a copy to Helen at the UN (and a few other currently serving pollies in Wellington just to remind them)

She would have dismissed it as right wing propaganda, and probably not even looked at it.

I see on the news tonight Helen is back in town, she was spotted on the same flight as another former leader of the Labour Party one David Shearer! No doubt back giving advice to her old cronies!

Well had mine for nearly 2 weeks and have read most of it and just wanted to put in a plug for fellow members. If you haven't got a copy yet or you've been umming and ahing about it - don't. This is one of the best books on a subject relating to NZ's proud aviation history. And one of the best touches? Henry Fanshaw being listed in the personnel index. And so he should be too!

Thanks for your kind words Smithy. You're very welcome Don. It's a cracking read and should be on every member's book shelf. A big thank you as I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I only hope you've got some more books up your sleeve as you and Nick have a real talent for this writing caper

No more books in the pipeline for me (I don't have the time), but I have just finished an article for Pacific Wings on the Skyhawks final resting place(s). Not sure when they will run it but it is a very interesting article as I interviewed Jared Isaacman from Draken about their plans.

I can only add my congratulations to Don and Nick on a very fine book, it is most impressive and a great history of our fine Skyhawks, I really enjoyed my time working with them. The only minuscule correction I can suggest, if I may, is the photo at the bottom of page 114; the mountain shown is Mt Arayat, Mt Pinatubo is off in the other direction. I may have already mentioned it to you Don, my memory cells may need dusting off.
One gripe I have with this thread is that absolutely disgusting "H....." swear word some people keep using when talking about Skyhawks and F-16s, it gets me so riled up I could burst a blood vessel!
Must make time to re-read the best book in my library.
Al.

We shouldn't denigrate the fairer sex by associating that with them. It aint a bloke either. I totally agree with Skymans comment upon that swear word. No fouler word could I imagine.

I want to add that I rate this book very highly as well. It's in the top 10 of over 400 books. In fact. in the top 3.

I have been approached by the publisher to update Skyhawks for another print run. I'm currently re-writing the last chapter to include details on the final disposal of the aircraft to Museums and Draken. The Draken piece will be quite extensive. I also hope to add a few more new photos to the rest of the book but that will depend on how many more pages we can squeeze in. Pre-order details below.
WilsonScott Publishing are considering a limited 500 reprint run of Skyhawks at $75 plus P&P. For the first confirmed 100 orders WillsonscottPublishing will discount to $60 plus P&P with a $30 deposit and we will proceed with printing. Email: Orders@willsonscott.biz
