Can You Help Please With A Donation?

As per the older thread, running this forum and the website takes a lot of time and dedication, as does the other unpaid research I do for many members and web browsers who constantly get in touch.

The recession has practically crippled me with next to no work. I am keen for any film work, history or other research work, writing and copy writing jobs, web design work etc that might be on offer so if you have anything of this nature you'd like to discuss please email me. Aviation or war histort related stuff is especially interesting but all offers are considered.

In the meantime two years ago I put out a request for donations and many kind people dipped into their pockets then and made a difference. Since then only one regular donation has come in - thanks, you know who you are and how much it is appreciated.

Right now times are particularly tough. So I know it's tough for everyone else too, but if you can spare just a little bit, it would really be appreciated indeed.

You can donate via PayPal using these instructions, or email [e-mail] to arrange another way with me.

Instructions:
Click here www.paypal.com/

- Login using your own email address and password

- Select "Send Money" tab on top row next to "My Account" tab

- Enter recipients email address. My email is [e-mail]

- Enter $ figure, select currency NZD- New Zealand Dollars in drop down list. Paypal will automatically estimate conversion and display it below the NZ dollar figure

- In the box below the $ amount there are two tabs, Purchase or Personal. Select Personal and check "Gift" option (may be already checked)

- Click continue, and next window confirms the details and shows any fee's to be incurred, mine was a 25 cents (says the writer of these instructions who lives in the USA).

- Check that the details are correct, recipient confirmed and dollar amount and bank or credit card where money is being withdrawn from.

- Add a message in the box at the bottom if you want.

- Click Send Money.

Donor and recipient will both receive confirmation emails of transaction from Paypal, so make sure your Paypal account profile contact details are correct and up to date.

Dave, I dont wish to appear as a wet blanket, but have you checked the terms and conditions of use of Proboards? I would hate to think that they might give you the flick for breaching free use of their blogging expertise because of an exchange of money. With it would go a lot of VERY interesting and useful information, which I presume is held on THEIR server?

I am not asking specifically for a service fee for this forum, not at all. I am broke and in huge debt, because of a lack of work and because several planned projects have had funding cuts or dried up totally. It's at the point where I very soon probably won't even be able to afford my dial up connection, so I may not be around here much longer the way things are going. It is a dreadful, awful position to be in and no matter what I have done and tried to do I cannot find a way out of it. No-one wants to hire me because I am not a 17 year old minimum wager, or I have too much or too wide an experience, or not enough experience, or whatever excuse they can find. Most simply don't even respond to job applications these days so who kinows what they are thinking about me. I think I am intelligent, polite, experienced in a wide variety of roles and have a good background but none of that helps to get even the most mundane of jobs to help pay the bills. My own work is specialised but I am more than willing to do anything that I can to keep my head above water, but at this point that's almost no longer a possibility. I'm practically sunk.

So I have been forced to turn to friends for help as I have ehausted every other means. Frankly if Proboards is not happy with that then they can take action, but this appeal is not about the forum, it is about real life - which of course includes the forum, my website, my film work, my writing, my paying bills and debts to the bank, and to family, and simply living from day to day. Sorry to spell it out, but there are people in this country who are really struggling - we hear about it on the TV every day but the reality is they definately exist because I am one of them. If you don't want to help that is fine by me, I don't mind a bit. The forum will still be free and open to anyone, there will not be any pressure on anyone to enforce a service fee, not at all. This is not about the forum alone.

To add to the above, for around nearly years many members here have had to opportunity to make money via the forum through the buy and sell marketplace and through reviews and promotions of their books, calendars, photo products, model products, museums and all sorts of other products. Many people have told me how it has been a great way to promote their wares. I have never made a cent from this, and Proboards has never had a problem with it either. And believe me I as Admin can see when the Proboards staff havebeen on the forum, and they check in regularly.

Well said Dave. Nothing to do with proboards here. You have not asked for money for the forums specifically and it is a public forum therefore if someone genuinely needs help they are free to post what they want on here.

right Dave Iwould like to suggest someting re you broard band connection I will send as above approx $100 which is what i've been paying to keep my Nelson friend on line per month; now all we need is 11 more folk to do the same and voila! Dave gets high speed!.
I imagine you will have a minimum term of 18months and im quite willing to dip again as required. (she no longer.......needs my help)...lol all the best and I will send on tuesday next week.
we all need support from time to time and I reckon high speed would make everything to do with admin much easier regards tony

well...............I sent the "donation" to the forum today Dave.Not one post of support from so many working forummers.... this the"slack mentality" i have tried to avoid in my own life; so many tight arse bastards now with all of the say and none of the understanding.
