Hi All, This is my Airfix 1/72 Widgeon painted in Amphibian Airways colours. It is painted as ZK - AVM. AVM was purchased from Australia in 1950 by Amphibian airways. It flew with this airline in Southland, and Stewart Island until 1961 when Amphibian airways was merged with Tourist Air Travel. ZK - AVM was also flown by Mt Cook Airways, Sea Bee Air, and most recently Salt Air. It is now stored in South Auckland. ZK - AVM was involved in the rescue of RNZAF Harvard pilot Graeme Millward in 1962, who bailed out of Harvard NZ1094 into the sea. It was too late in the day to get a Sutherland out to pick up the pilot so the RNZAF requested help from Tourist Air Travel. ZK - AVM picked up Graeme Millward in the dark, and flew him to Whenuapai. ZK - AVM also did a wheels up belly landing at Whenuapai in the 1960's. A defective undercarriage leg prevented a proper landing so AVM diverted to Whenuapai, escorted by a vampire jet! Anyway here are the pictures of my one.

Nice model and history to go with it. I take it by 'Sutherland' you mean 'Sunderland'.
