On Wednesday prior to the Skyhawk arriving Tony Hasant gave me a tour of the Warbirds hangar and I was most impressed. I knew they had some great exhibits but had no idea how many models they had and how big the library is. Well worth a visit and now they have a Skyhawk too. Some pics I took: From the upper level. From the top and plenty of room to walk around. Fantastic wall display and great line up of models. Up close with a Mustang. Head on with a Harvard. T-28 looks superb. Cheers PS all these pics taken with a phone camera.

Thanks for the photos Colin.
Nice to see the P-51 having her stenciling and detailing on the paintwork to a more accurate representation of the original "15".
Cheers Anthony

Yeah some great photos from your phone Colin. Better than most of mine off a camera!! Wouldn't you hate to be the one to want to take Harvard NZ1053 flying? You'd have to move a few others outside first! Reminds me of 1978 and I saw the retired Harvards all parked together in the end of 6 Hangar. Wow that's one clean prop hub on the Mustang!

Great photos, Colin.
Isn't it amazing to see how good some of the newer generation mobile phone cameras are, as these shots show - no more of those pixilated and blurry 1.3MP shots now.
Must get out there one day!

Great photos Colin, there really is a lot to see in that hangar now, it's very impressive. I notice recently the Bird Dog has been sporting rockets!

Terrific photos that do justice to a great facility. I spent all my childhood wanting to visit, and when I got the chance I was not disappointed.
And I, too, am very happy to see rockets on the Bird Dog. Outstanding!

The Warbirds hangar is looking great now days and the aeroplanes look much cleaner and cared for. Colin, did you notice the old 2c piece in the Harvard hub?

Apparently the story goes that American dimes were placed at the time of manufacture. Later after maintenance other coins were removed or replaced with NZ currency of the day. Maybe someone here knows the exact story but that is how I understood it to be.
