We had a couple of RAF exchange pilots on 75 during my time there.
Up until the end of last year we had an exchange RN observer on 6 SQN, although I don't think it was reciprocal because we didn't have enough observers to send one to the RN.

It wasn't really an Inter air force exchange, but I filled an RAF Officer's post in Anzuk in Singapore for two years from 1974-7, as an RNZAF Flt Lt. A fascinating time really, because, on a daily basis, I was in contact with Brits, Aussies and Kiwis, and I very quickly came to realise that all the Kiwi people, whichever arm of the military they represented , were as good as, or better than their counterparts. You have no idea how satisfying that can be!

Flt 'Punch] Patterson was awarded on Aussie DFC[he was attached to the RAAF] for bringing back a damaged 9 Sqn RAAF Iroquois while on an attachment in Vietnam. He would have been justified in dumping it but decided it "was too far to walk home". Typical ' Punch' if you ever met him!. There was another guy who's name I forget who received a USAF DFC.

Welcome Trimotor. The Caribous would have been an interesting type to fly for sure.

Someone here might know, none of the guys at the 21 course Boy Entrant School reunion earlier in the year could remember him, but I am sure we had an Assie in "A" Flt, and he wore his RAAF uniform. He probably went home after Passing Out. It's probable that someone from this side went to Australia at the same time. isc

Are the Canadian exchanges (CANEX) still going? I did three months in Comox in the 90's as an F/E on the Aurora, great way to see the glaciers...
