Looking at Tony Phillips'"official" history of CIAL he records three Concorde visits to CIAL.
The first was an Air France one in 1988 which might tie in with WayneB's recollection of one coming to CIAL for "safe" keeping as it were.
The next was Apr 9 1989 G-BOAF which was the one whose rudder came adrift when she left Apr 12.
The third he doesn't id but was another BA one and it was here October 1989. Tony records that it was charter flight and a C-5 was also here so a "biggest and fastest" themed airshow was organised around them but bad weather dampened it and only some 2500 people attended.
That would fit kiwikate's one.

I'll bet at least one of those 2500 people is here on the forum and must have some photos.

I still have a shot I took of the Concorde as it flew over my home at Manakau Neads on its first visit in 1988. It was escorted by (I think 3) RNZAF Skyhawks

Let me check my archives... I went out and saw Concorde at Chch airport in 89 and also was invited onboard the NASA C141A that was there...

Got a good tour of the inside of both.
