The best way to get that latex off would be to take it up for a few circuits in the rain. We found that with the Mustang only that wasn't ment to come off just then!

It will be interewsting to see the process of the rest of these aircraft, how they get shipped to the USA. I guess they'll need the same disassembly and trucking to a wharf at Picton.

I would have thought trucking to Christchurch would make more sense. BTW, don't know if it has been mentioned before, but the one for Nowra will be converted back back to an A-4G.

I believe the real buyer is still Wolf - JDI is probably just a holding company.
Good that some of the Macchis are going to GTW and the rest and the GTW Strikemasters to museums.

I seem to remember a similar press release at about the same time last election ! And the one before that! "Pre-election window dressing" was how National described it at the time... something tells me this announcement is no different!

Yep , and to think you can buy our whole air defence capability for a similar figure to what it costs to clean up from one single ship grounding !

I wonder if we'll ever see these "clapped out" aircraft flying again.... Also interesting that they sold for about the same price they were purchased for, not adjusting for inflation!

Am I right in hearing that the eight Skyhawks were sold for just $8 Million?

And all the spares and test/support equipment - some 40+ shipping containers worth! Someone has got a bargain...

$7.9MMinus $1m finders fee to Ernst Young, legal fees of about $300,000. And lets not forget storage fees of $34m. Roughly the same cost to the taxpayer as the Rugby World Cup.....
