Definitely not. There's nothing more boring that Holdens and Fords. I am house sitting for my sister and her husband while they're in Europe for five weeks. Hamilton will be a better place when that bogan race is gone. Yesssss!...as he leaps up from his computer and dances around the room! Perhaps they can finish the event by having a couple of helicopters each drop a Ford/Holden into the lake?

Dave, I see you just moved your post about moving posts. I do hope you gave this some good thought beforehand, and so will not need to move this post any more!

It was always planned to move it into this section after it had been brought to the attention of readers. No-one seems to have taken a blind bit of notice anyway and I'm seriously thinking of closing the General Board till people wake their ideas up.

OK, it seems that since I posted this message people have stepped up their placing of items in the wrong place. It has not worked and I am not happy.
I have therefore had a rethink because a lot of people fail to look around the forum for the various correct boards, and fail to comprehend that the General Board or the boards shown on the fornt page are not the only sections available. Some people fail to read clear instructions. Some people fail to do a search for the past seven days to see if the topis has already been posted - an example are the Burma Spitfires, four different threads have been started within a few days of each other, in three different boards, all wrong!
So now I have created a new sub-section for ALL foreign military, civil and aviation discussion, including preservation overseas. I really hope this is easier for some here to comprehend and will from now on please place threads into their appropriate catagories. Repeat offenders may end up finding their accounts suspended if they continue to place anything wherever they like. It takes a moment of thought and checking to see where a thread should go, and if the topic is already up on the forum. Occasional mistakes are fine but serial offending and thoughtlessness really brasses me off.

I just use the 'New Topics' to view the posts here. I have no idea what heading any of them are under. General, Now and Then would probably do me.... Are the grumpy pills selling cheap this week ? I may need some more

Why do people think the boss is grumpy!! That is my domain cause everyone says I am and I am a lot older than Dave and I also stick my hand down a gobbly last Friday, 13th, and turned it on. Now that really made me grumpy. I only recently posted photos of my trip to Seattle last Sept mainly because I didn't know where to post them so I asked Dave who then helpfully told where to stick them. ;D Now I am about to post photos of general airport photos taken during the trip it appears it may have changed but I will check first to make sure it hasn't changed. I will now go and make a coffee with 2 sugar pills to sweeten more and Dave enjoy the V8's this weekend. I will be watching them on TV cause I see more than attending in person although it doesn't have the same atmosphere. Trouble is I tend to fall asleep watching TV. I would suggest though that since I am a bit of a museum buff I would like a thread just for them split in to two. One for NZ and one for overseas. ;D Keep up the good work, much appreciated.

I'm sorry if you think this is just me being grumpy for the sake of it, but it matters Scraper because it makes it easier when later searching back for an older topic to have them categorised in themed boards, it cuts down on the hit numbers immensely as you can select the likely boards when searching and thus makes it a lot easier for everyone here.
Plus there are people here who only like to read certain board topics and not others and they don't want to waste their time wading through irrelevant threads.
And to the average visitor here they probably am wondering why I am getting angry at this, but you don't see all the obviously out of place threads that I am having to shift as soon as I see them, which lately has been several posts needing shifting every visit I make, several times a day. It never used to be like this and most members are good and understand how things work - some don't and they refuse to listen to polite requests and gentle persuasion so I am making a bigger point of it. It's not one person, there are several.
I see and deal with all of these errant posts, you don't. You have no idea how much work goes on behind the scenes, and I don't expect you to. I expect you to come here and see ebverything as it should be, which is why I am trying to reorganise the way these few people think about how they use the forum.
As for your point about there being too many boards here - what do you suggest? One big mish mash? Most of the boards have come about by public demand and I haven't seen anyone else complaining that they want boards closed down. In fact a few years ago I wanted to cull back numbers of boards myself and suggested the ATC and Gliding boards could go as they almost never get used, but there was a strong opinion voiced to keep them open even if they don't get many hits, as those threads that do get posted are appreciated.
There's never a simple solution and you cannot please all the people all of the time, but this is how it is currently going to be.

Whenever I search for something way back in the dim-darks of the group, I always allow the search to cover ALL boards (kind of a scatter-gun approach). I find careful use of keywords in the search seem to be more important than selecting which boards to search anyway. In fact, I've found that being selective over which boards to search seems to increase the chances of the search timing-out and you being redirected to a page telling you that ProBoards aborted the search because it was taking too long. Messageboard forums hosted by SMF (Simple Machines Forums) have a much more sophisticated inbuilt search engine than these ProBoards-hosted groups, although it does has to be set up by the person/s administering the group. I have emailed ProBoards a couple of times suggesting that they adopt a similar search engine format to that used by SMF, but simply received an automatic form reply and never heard any more about it. However, having said that, I have generally always been able to locate what I have been searching for in ProBoards-hosted groups....if the search hasn't been fruitful the first attempt, I've simply been a bit more careful with the keywords used in the search on the second and subsequent attempts until I find what I am looking for.

OK, it seems that since I posted this message people have stepped up their placing of items in the wrong place. It has not worked and I am not happy.. Dave, I really did think before posting todays pic of the Harvard---My first thought was to post in "Aviation Photography", but on reading the forum heading I concluded that my Picture did not meet the stated requirements Aviation Photography - Discuss tips and techniques on getting the best out of photographing aircraft and related subjects in the air, on the ground and in museums Moderators: Dave Homewood, corsair67, skyhawkdon My apologies, and a hope that you are not too "Brassed off " with my stupidity. Thanks for moving the pic, it is too good to not be shared. Cheers and best wishes---Bob

No it was fine Bob, and I had a think too before I shifted it. The Photography forum has over time developed away from its intended purpose and I will amend the actual blurb on the title. No worries there. It was a marginal call at the best of times. Great photo by the way, i have seen it come up often on Pixdaus (I think it's called) which Mum follows.

Nope, a glitch at Proboards HQ banned us all. Nearly gave me a heart attack when the whole forum had disappeared!
