I started my apprenticeship with TAA at Essendon,Melbourne in 1952.first aircraft I got anywhere near [after sweeping floors and getting lunches] was a BCPA DC6 on heavy maintenance.Cant remember any details. I think ANA may have had DC4's at the time. Many years later, after the Comet fiasco ,I thought it was strange that the DC4-unpressurised, had round windows While the pressurised DC6 had square ones! I would have crossed the Tasman some years later in TEAL Dc6 prior to Electra---might have been the same one I worked on!!
