Are you asking about the rumour from 12 years ago?

So... any thruth about the DASH 8 for RNZAF? Or just another smoke on the Horizon? No truth what so ever, but NZ has bought some G550 Gulfstreams on the QT

I have a recently retired mate who flew Dash 8s in Kenya and Sudan for the UN for quote a few years. He took the first one in their to replace DC3s which were becoming hard to source. Most of the flying was on to dirt strips and the Dash 8s performed really well and are still being used for the passenger transport role. So I would expect a Dash 8 would meet much of the Air Force's transport role.

are we going to see zombie threads resurrected for every potential transport replacement contender? We locked the main thread for a reason.

are we going to see zombie threads resurrected for every potential transport replacement contender? We locked the main thread for a reason. Maybe you should open the other thread's back up and make them NEWS only threads.
And make another for all the speculation no matter how far outlandish it maybe, I for one enjoy peoples light bulb moments even if I do not agree with it.

Surely everything that could have been said about the small select set of aeroplanes that fit into the categories for replacement have already been said over the many years the two threads were open - and they were said over and over in endless cycles with no real outcome.
The threads will be opened WHEN there is news. Not before. And they will be opened FOR the news.

Great Dave and when you re-open the threads, could you limit it to those members who have over 500 postings? Ray

Haha, that would be a bit harsh Ray. Sometimes there are some great contributions from people with low post counts.

Haha, that would be a bit harsh Ray. Sometimes there are some great contributions from people with low post counts. Yes exactly, the number of posts in no way reflects the quality of those posts... in some forums the inverse of that argument is quite true, the more said the less sense it makes! I for one must admit I almost get dizzy with the revolving door of some of the discussion on here but so long as it reigned in quickly then I'll cope. p.s. I'm not bagging anyone specifically here... just saying!
