On the occasion of my 70th Birthday I was given a " boxed complete and original" newspaper for the 23rd February1940, by "the three best children a man could ever wish for" in their own words! The newspaper is the "Times" of London and is not a reproduction but a genuine and original newspaper of that day! How imaginative a gift is that? It's a prized possession!
There is lots of news of the war, including a planned march through London of the ships' companies' of HMS Ajax and Achilles, home after the Battle of the River Plate.

Wow Phil82 that was an incredibly thoughtful and well thought out gift! i had an original Honalulu*  paper extra edition from dec 7 1941 that i left a mate to guard when i left N.Z i should try get it back that is what got me into old papers. |
