Having posted some photos from the Le Bourget museum thought there maybe some interest in other places...
Anchorage is my favourite place, especially in the summer at Lake Hood and Merrill Field. LH is next to the international airport and is a mixture of floats and wheels...Merrill is 'downtown' and even though the roar of a 185 can be heard really early in the morning it is an accepted fact there that aviation is important.
The Millennium Hotel is a great place to watch with a burger and cold beer.
The decline is noticeable here with many 'working' 185s and Beavers up for sale and private flying has dropped dramatically.
More uncared for aircraft around now than loved ones...also many spaces in the tie down areas in direct contrast to 20 years ago when you have to list for a tie down space and we are talking acres here...Still an exciting place with an eclectic range of aircraft...
This PBY was recovered from the tundra some years ago and is on display at the excellent museum.

Raymond...sorry none of the Museum except the PBY and the Goose and Stinson parked next to it. many of the outside exhibits still fly and are well cared for. The museum inside has a interesting display with an excellent shop staffed by good looking friendly female volunteers I'll get some on the next trip.
