The navy gives an insight into its role in the multinational Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC 2012) under way off Hawaii, in this video posted on YouTube.
The exercise, involving 22 countries, 25,000 personnel, 42 ships, six submarines, and more than 200 aircraft, runs until August 3.
Among the contingent from this country are about 350 NZ Defence Force personnel, ships Te Kaha and Endeavour, a diving team, a mine counter measures team, a rifle platoon, and an air force Orion.
RIMPAC 2012 is the largest international maritime exercise in the world, with New Zealand's involvement being its first in RIMPAC for 28 years.
Below the video confirms the missile destroyed target drone. Sort of hard to get visual contact on missile traveling at Mach 4 compared to slower subsonic maverick.
