If you look close enough at the passengers dis-embarking at the bottom of the airstairs, it's PM Wallace Rowling, his wife and son... Airbridges?...What are airbridges? That explains the RNZAF officer with the aide aguilette. Well, please don't blame me for not recognizing Bill Rowling: he was not exactly a memorable figure (at least as far as I was concerned). Still, the fact that he went in a domestic airliner flying with other passengers rather than requisition RNZAF VIP transport speaks volumes.

Rowling was just a shadow of the man he had to suddenly replace...And that other meglo-monster to follow pretty much consigned him to footnote status. BUT...As for the 737...What an end it will be, just shy of fifty years!. So how do we go about bailing up Air NZ to paint retro NAC colours on the last few models left in service? (keeping an eye on ZK-NQC out there in the Canadian tundra also)

I would love to see them go even more retro and paint a 737 in this colour scheme....

Isn't that one of the original 737-100 'Guppy's that NAC/Boeing pitched against the BAC 1-11 during the infamous 'Battle of the Boeing' debacle in 1966? (NAC had already secretly booked early slots on the production line). They changed to the larger model -200 as the final trump card...phew.
Amazingly there's a wonderfull illustration of the BAC 1-11 in the same livery - and it really suited it!
It's sad that NZ keeps letting our aviation history fly away...Should've at least kept NQC at home as the -200 representitive...How come the Railfan Community, which I am also a member of, can (nowadays) have a respectable fleet of engines and rolling stock, yet our major airports refuse a gate gaurdian of such importance to NZs economic growth.

Interesting to see ZK-NQC still lives as C-GTVO in quite a striking colour scheme. Pics from the Operators website www.chronoaviation.com/en/fleet/boeing-737-200 I can't tell if the 1st pic has been edited poorly or its just the nature of the photo scheme

That looks stunning. The first one looks almost matt black but not so much in the second.
