Kittinger Dave, Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize and was US Secretary of State.
Amazing achievement and as you say, amazing to watch live on TV. Well done Felix.

TVNZ has once again proven what a complete joke they are. I have been watching this historic coverage since 4.45am, and just as it is getting really interesting they turn off the coverage to play their childish news programme, and switch the live coverage to some obscure digital channel that I cannot receive. Meanwhile TV2 plays some evangilist shit that could easily have been pushed aside for the live coverage. Unbelievable. So why didn't you watch it on TV3 instead?
I presume TV3 were also broadcasting it?
Or you could instead watch the ABC NEWS clip....Or CLICK HERE to watch the video-clip in a larger-sized format.

TV3 were not broadcasting it, and their news had a small clip of him landing about a minute after TV One but they still claimed it as live.
That wild oscillation he got spinning around was pretty worrying.

I liked the fact it was the actual record holder and pioneer Joe Kittinger that was his contact at Mission Control. I had been wondering earlier in the week what Mr Kittinger made of someone taking his age old records but it seems he was fully backing it. the earlier broadcast was great as we could hear Joe take Felix through various drills, etc. I was hoping to hear it for real live as it happened.

I was working this morning when the jump occured (and we don't have television sets in locomotive cabs), but I wasn't too worried about missing it live, because I knew I'd be home from work by about 10:30am, then I'd have the entire internet to locate footage of the jump.

What a feat. It was a heart stopping moment seeing him jump from the capsule and also the bit when he was spinning too. I started to think that they would cut away as he was a goner, but once he stabilised I figured he'd make it.

After that massive rush, I wonder if Felix has come back down to earth yet?
