Ok those who have been reading my Auster thread will know I have NOT had a sex change and need a bra now! Thought I would start the thread that will follow the adventures of three forum members on their adventure to recover the wreck of J5F Auster ZK-BRA, currently residing in a hangar near Gisborne. Friday will see me driving north from Christchurch (using a workmates Pajero instead of my Mondeo) to catch the ferry to Wellington. Here I meet up with Johnnyfalcon who cunningly has accomodation for the night. We then drive on Saturday and meet up with Baronbeeza and his trailer and head on to Gisborne. Sunday will see us loading up BRA on the trailer and heading off to possibly pick up more aircraft treasure that Baronbeeza may have acquired. I'd say we will stop somewhere for the night before heading on to Wellington on Monday. Then Baronbeeza (Kevin) and I will stay another night in Wellington before catching the ferry on Tuesday morning for the trip back to Christchurch. I had a brief scare when I found out the Interislanders might be on strike for 7 days starting on the 1st of December! But as I only booked going up on the 30th of November it was a no brainer to book the return with the opposition just in case. I have my check list ready of things t o take as in tools (just in case) tarps, ratchet tie-downs and a few foam mattresses for padding. So expect a few posey photos next week!

Hay if it hangs over the rear u could use a bra as one of those warning flags.......
From the NZ Herald recently (sideswipe)
Bra flag a contractor must-have
Regarding the bra attached to a ladder in West Auckland: "The bra as warning flag on protruding items was made famous in a TV ad about 10 years ago," writes a reader.
"Since then the contractor's habit of keeping a bra ready for such times has been an unspoken requirement for contractor membership. I keep two, one belonging to my wife, the other, my girlfriend. Different sizes for different needs."

Report by JohnnyFalcon
Baronbeeza arrived in the Hawkes Bay mid-week to collect the trailer he had bought and with which we would bring BRA home. Only it had been stolen.
While he mildly went into panic mode, Baz' plans were coming together to drive CHCH - Picton Friday afternoon to meet the evening sailing to Wellington where I had arranged accommodation and he would collect me for the trip North. After departing on time Baz came to a smoking and grinding halt half way to Kaikoura. Blown turbo. No more go. And subsequently missed his sailing while sitting on the side of the road.
We're well on the way then. No trailer, no vehicle, baron stuck in the Hakes Bay, and me wondering what next?
Well...Baz eventually made his way back home and collected his car and departed in quick fashion for Picton intending to catch the 6.35 am sailing. Only he left his tickets behind. U-turn number 2...
More to come soon.

See what happens when you make your younger brother the butt of jokes about underwear???
Never mind, as they say sh*t happens. YOu must ask Baz why I have on occasion referred to him as "Memory Man".
Hope it all turns out well in the end.
Cheers and beers.

Saturday morning Baz finally arrived in Wellington and navigated by GPS to the rendezvous with me. Only he didn’t have an updated map and missed the turn-off and ended back on the motorway to Wellington. U-turn number 2... Eventually he arrived. Baz had had some willing helpers in this adventure, enthusiastically supported by agalbraith another Auster obsessive. Unfortunately he never paid close attention at boy-scouts and his knot tying efforts to restrain one of the mattresses on board failed, almost smothering an unsuspecting Ford Mondeo driver. New knots tied. Meantime the baron had located a replacement trailer (sight unseen) and taken a punt. We caught up with him and the new acquisition at Carterton (after U-turns 3 and 4 on to reciprocal headings). The team was now back on track. With much rattling and banging and aeroplane talk virtually the entire 10 hours (Baz and I are really good listeners) we arrived 10:30 pm at the farm in Gisborne. Sunday was to be the big day. Sunday morning and a hearty breakfast from our hospitable and generous hosts saw us begin removing the BRA… This done amid feelings of high anticipation, doubts of fitting it all on, bleeding fingers cut on broken Perspex and aluminium, and BRA’s previous owners growing sense of loss. We had determined that Baz was suffering from Austereoporosis. The symptoms were evident in that he was wearing his shirt inside out (none of us had the heart to tell him) and he was stuffed to the eyeballs with hay fever. After much deliberation and effort we were loaded. The family said their goodbyes and we and the BRA were off… Only 15 hours or so of driving to go. Updates to come tomorrow
