Sounds like something off "Letter to Blanchy"... good to see that everyone maintains a sense of humour amidst all the adventures.

Haha, now that was a classic old TV series there Bruce, I loved that. And you're so right, this is very much like one of their adventures.

Well there are certainly some nice buggers on here aren't there. Here we all are working hard, getting the job done and the armchair plane spotters are taking the piss. (Thanks to the positive responses though appreciate your support) Its been a hard slog with my Mondeo finding out what it's clutch was for!! With the wings strapped to the sides of the fuselage and gusty Nor West (just like Christchurch) had the trailer trying to drive the car on occasion. We have certainly gotten some looks from passersby even had one chap pull along side for a look at the trailer while overtaking. So feet are now up in Wellington and having a beer. Catching the ferry in the AM and carry on to rangiora and then home.

This morning we got under way for what was to be my final leg of this sojourn - Hastings to Wellington. We were really getting into this aeroplane recovery thing by now so we took every opportunity that presented itself. (Caption anyone?) But then we found an even better score! According to the locals it was to be removed from the playground soon anyhow. So "see a need, fill a need..."

After a very long day we are safely ensconced in Wellington tired and road weary. Baz has done a marathon job of driving the entire time and a good imitation of Stirling Moss... From here I hand over the updates to the remaining crew. Watch this space...

No wonder the Mondeo is complaining Nice sail in the nor' wester. So how you gonna tie NZ918 on? Is it going to be strapped to the roof of the Mondeo? ;D Good score - go away for an Auster & come with an Auster & a Piper fuselage ;D Have a safe trip down the east coast of the mainland to Rangas & then home.

I see from the photograph of the Havard in Pahiatua that you must have travelled down through Wairarapa.
If you stayed on SH2 through Masterton, then you passed within 150 metres of me today. I was at home all day after I knocked off from work at about 10:30am this morning, and I live just off SH2.
I suppose you drove straight past Hood without calling in?

Nice one guys - hope the travel back to Christchurch goes well.
The Harvard is coming down soon to get a few touch ups and a bit more support to the central wing section which is corroded at the ends. RNZAF Engineers were out to have a look at it a month or two ago

...but we did talk about you... No really, we did. Just as we got stuck on the railway lines Railway lines - Woodville or Featherston?? That's quite a load for a Mondeo... surprised the clutch still works! The Greytown straights are renowned for a bit of windage... and from Mt Bruce south too. I'm glad its been an uneventful trip so far , thanks for the picture story - and the side comments! Safe journey home boys (with their toys)!

I can now see why BRA is not considered a viable rebuild project in its own right.
Munted, really munted.

Quite an adventure, I have one burning question... where did that lovely lingerie come from? It's not mine, so do tell hubby dear Must say it has been very strange not having the Bazman here at home. I had to stay home & go to work - have two planes to support now. <sigh> Just have to say that the Mondeo has towed a bigger load, a certain Bristol Hercules.
