Very cool - well done Al and Larry! Is that a small fire under the trailer or just lights reflecting off something?

Wouldn't be an Omaka airshow if the airfield didn't catch on fire......

Who was the small lucky child who got a ride? Just some random child picked errrrrrr at random. Trouble is Al and Marty won't give him back and he's still in the Bristol playing in the cockpit! (Ha ha ha don't call the cops I'm kidding! Honest!)

We must have been standing right by each other kiwithrottlejockey! Did you see Teresa and I get up and have a dance? (Yes we had had a wine or two and we wouldn't win any dance competitions!!) A very well deserved award to Mr Marshall.

Wouldn't be an Omaka airshow if the airfield didn't catch on fire...... Very true Bruce , trouble is the first engine run is not on the airfield , its in front of the JEM hangar ! Not really a risk though , as it had been raining for a couple of hours before hand . Actually , on the subject of fire , the organisers had put a lot more effort to stop that this year . The pyro area had been well prepared and irigated , never even looked like getting away .

Posted this in the Classic Fighters photo thread but thought some deserved to be here too. A shot of Al getting his award. And a few close up shots of it I got to hold it!! Jay got an award for the work on the Yak3. He humbly tried to say he didn't deserve it because it didn't fly. Last one for now. Now with a new fuel pump the carb is getting all the fuel it needs but the slow running mixture needs a tweak. Cough cough! Over 1300RPM the smoke goes away. He even got it up to 2000!!

Wish I wasn't so busy with action in the air so I could've seen THAT.

evening all. I'm still penning an account of CF11 as I saw it. It's getting there but I thought I'd post a Geoff Soper shot of the very first run on Easter Saturday. The photo is a great result considering it was hand-held and 1/8th of a second shutter. Many beers followed!

I liked the way it stopped raining too for the successful start. That is a good shot considering the lighting and the fairly low revs of the engine. Like the V2 I'm wondering how Al's going to top his achievement. Mind you we still have a bunch of blunt pencils to get sharpened so I would say the Bristol Hercules Pencil Sharpening App will need to be installed. Then Al could tow it to schools and small children could line up for the Hercules treatment on their pencils! Watch the Greenies amongst the teachers muttering cos he's using litres of oil and petrol to sharpen a pencil (itself from murdered trees! Oh the humanity!). Yee haw! ;D
EDIT: Think big Al:

Hi guys just stumbled over your web site with pleasure seeing old faithful bristol freighter being nursed back into life. I had the pleasure to travel regularly in the bristol freighters ZK CLT and ZK CRK owned by SAFEAIR as they provided the lifeline to the chatham islands in the 70s and early 80s. I have great memories of these basic but enjoyable aircraft and was sad to hear they had been sent away. Keep up the good work on the old girl Thanks
