That's a great shot Bruce. Warren doesn't seem the least bit concerned that he's about to run you over!

Brilliant, roll on the end of next month. I've assumed the Mosquito was going to be in a silver doped finnish, especially after seeing the tail flash in place, but I'm wondering if this is so. Does anyone know for sure that can say without having to kill me afterwards? Steve. never mind, found the link to the TV3 clip on the previous page. Green/Grey 487sqn markings. Nice.

It is being painted into standard RAF camouflage of WWII, grey/green. The tail is already painted on top of the elevators. It's not staying in silver, it will be in the colours of No. 487 (NZ) Squadron.

With all of the great updates we are getting about KA114 I have started to wonder if we will get the same level of information about TV959.
It has been well publicised that Paul Allen doesn't like his rebuilds to be well publicised.
Are Avspecs subject to a Non-Disclosure Agreement which will prevent photos like those above from being published as TV959 goes through it's restoration?

Thanks Dave, if I'd bothered to use the gooey things in the front of my face a bit better I'd have noticed the colour on the top of the elevators in the shot where it is being swung around into the paint hangar. Any word on which of 487s it will be.? EG-T perchance? Steve.

It's a big job. Fuse to be painted first then wings another day.

Like so many on this site, I've been around aircraft and air displays a long time, and have actually seen a Mosquito at one or two before the demise of that particular aircraft in the UK.
I have a real buzz about this forthcoming weekend, like I haven't felt for some time, so top those who've not yet seen or heard two Merlins on song attached to one of the most significant aircraft ever built, get your drinking boots out! Sam's driving!

Never heard what is going to be the ultimate sound. 2 merlins in humming on my all time favourite aircraft. I can't wait. Have watched 633 and Mosquito squadron this week also Maybe I am obsessed. Hahaha

I'e never had the pleasure of seeing and hearing such a sight yet either, and am really looking forward to this amazing event.
I recently watched 633 Squadron and Mosquito Squadron again too, both have some good air to air and ground footage of Mossies, but I find both really corny, badly scripted and acted affairs, and it pains me to see the real Mossies being deliberately written off!

A very good film, before your time Dave, is The Purple Plain, starring Gregory peck as a Mosquioto pilot in Burma. It's a bit 'true Brit' but I found it here:

I remember seeing it on the TV in the 1960s when I was a kid. Think it crashes in the bush. Thanks for the link. Have to go and watch. EDIT: There are 11 parts to the movie on Youtube and you have to search for them. They go from 01 - 11. This the search term I used and just changed the part number. thepurple plain 1954 burma movie 11
