Found these old pic's of a Matilda tank, she was sitting in a park some where down the south coast from Sydney, Australia. Thought I'd put up my pic's of a desert schemed Matilda. From most reports the blue splinter camo was quite effective in the featureless desert and the Matildas needed it against the far superior german guns and armour.
That colour scheme is called the Caunter scheme after its originator as I understand. It was current during 1940/41. The pale blue colour is a widely held mistake, it should be a pale grey green colour, it was called Silver Grey. They do make an attractive alternative to Sand or olive drab. Steve.
