I suspect that until the KC-30s arrived the RAAF didn't have a tanker with the range to station/time on station/fuel offload capacity to make AAR viable for anything other than fast jets.
It'll be interesting to see if the fit receptacles to the C-130J now that they have a truly useful tanker force.

But the C130 is designed really as tactical transport, but were doing strategic roles untill the C17 came along so is there any real need for them to be fitted.

Have done Richmond to Darwin loaded up before with reasonably full load. Inclued was 1 pallet of beer and wine on way to Bullesye
