The worst thing is that Aussie Beer is cheaper in NZ than it is here Only right for two reasons - one is no-one here wants to drink it at full price, and the other is most of the Aussie breweries are owned by New Zealand Breweries, taken over in the expansive Sir Doug Meyer days. As for the choppers, it's a pity Meyers wasn't running this deal - he wouldn't have waited till the dollar was crap again... Still, he spends his days investing in musicians now and did very nicely out of bringing Gnarles Barkley to the world.

Calum, What kind of flotation devices will this helo have (if any) please? I would assume it will go to larger ships occasionally for deck landing practice like the utility helos from the past (Iroquois and whatnots). Phil. Phil The have floats, Not sure where they fit however. They won't be doing any ldeck landings though (not in the contract/lease I believe)

Calum, Thanks - I guess from the Army Blackhawk experience it is prudent - no floats, no deck landings. Phil.

Calum, I'm not trying to be picky I hope. Does that mean they will carry floats when required for over water operations, but not off ships? Perhaps this situation will never arise if fitting the floats is a hassle for short duration 'over water' flights? I guess they would be required for wet winching practice. Do these helos have winches? Questions, questions... :-) Phil.

Phil
Yes they will carry floats for over water op's. These are external to the auircraft and I beleive are fitted around the aft of the cabin.
I beleive a term of the current lease is that these aircraft cannot be operated off ships (ie no DLP's).
As for winches, yes they have them (See pics in this thread or others).
These are Civy leased helicopters on the state register but maintenaed by Civy LAME's, flown by Military aircrew. Confused yet?

Calum, Thanks for confusion. :-) OK I understand they will wet winch over water with floats fitted but do no DLs. Phil.
