Which is why we get crossed trained in SEQ servicing, but you don't get crossed trained in armament servicing.

Which bits are you cross trained in Phil, out of interest? Harnesses I can imagine due to the winching, anything else?

QRF, Rescue/Hypothermic Strop, Bossuns Chair, Alpha helmets, UEMs, Paraguard Stretchers, Grabit Hooks. We also service Mk1 life preservers used on the flight deck.
The ship's flight armourer is responsible for servicing all the SEQ while on board. I've even been NCOi/c Trade for the SQN S&S section while the incumbent was away.

Yeah well, who really joined the RNZAF to float in a can? Not me, but once I gave it a go I realised it was great fun. Wouldn't want to do it full time for 20 years, but I'm glad I got the chance to spend time on both Frigates and Canterbury.

Ladies, when a man says he will fix something, he will. You don't have to nag him every six months.

So what are the rumours regarding the next batch of A109's. There was another 3 that they were looking at getting. Was it an option they consulted Augusta with during the original purchase or a completely new project.

If I remember correctly in 2009 John Key said that since they were so cheap we'll get another 3 but they won't be armoured / armed and will be used for training. They are on the long term program.

Air surveillance and transport replacement projects are much higher priority using up the money and project staff.

Are the mentioned additional 3 Agusta A.109 still on the list to be purchased? I doubt it...IIRC their purchase was never formally announced but rather on a plan of some sort. At least one DCP has come & gone since they were first mooted and that last DCP did not mention them at all. It's important to understand anything recommended in a DCP or similar document is absolutely not a given until we see public confirmation from Govt that a purchase has been contracted, as there are too many variables (ie: Govt's & Policy) that change in the intervening years.

Thanks for reply. I guess you are right. A possible order would be difficult also as the A.109 is no longer produced? Or am I wrong 🤔

Or am I wrong 🤔 You're wrong The LUH is essentially a 109E from a mechanical perspective, with a custom avionics sweet (closer to the Grand New). Leonardo hand builds them at various locations.
