I received the following email from Don Borthwick seeking info. Can you help please?
Dear Dave Homewood I used to work with Eddie at Wigram in the early 70's and funnily enough he was my airframe mech trade tester.
I was in Air Staff in the 90's (I think) when his death notification came through. For various reasons I did not get to go to his funeral.
I knew his family well and am wondering if they are still here I ChCh. Can you give me any information as to Eddies grave location and nok details. Best regards Don Borthwick

James Edward (Eddie) Carruthers died on 13 August 1992.
There was a memoriam notice in a Nelson paper in 1993 and 1997.
I've not been able to locate his grave in Nelson or Christchurch, however. Perhaps he was cremated and/or buried elsewhere?

Is it possible that this is the same person who was a civilian instructor at 2TTS, Wigram?

Is it possible that this is the same person who was a civilian instructor at 2TTS, Wigram? Yes Eddie volunteered teaching Radio Electronics to future Radio Hams like myself in 1957. I met him as an AC1 in 1960 at 2tts and again teaching at Hornsby Radio Club. He was always available and cheerful to pass his knowledge on. RIP Eddie.
