Hi - for those with an interest in 488(NZ) squadron, I have collated a lot of information from my Grandfather's tour and am now blogging his time with 488 Squadron in "Real Time" 70 years on. The blog is here: broodyswar.wordpress.comI'd love your feedback (positive or negative!) Thanks, Adam

That was great! I'm glad you are adding some details from others in the same flight too - it builds the picture up of the struggles and wins (previous fuel and radio R/T issues etc). One day at a time!

Very poignant and reported with sensitivity and with a covering review. Very interesting reading and one puts oneself not in their shoes but aware of their environment and action and decision making. These are good to read albeit but brief out of the diary, thank you.

Thanks for your comments. I only wish I could fill in some of the gaps in my grandfather's story, but the journal only came to light this year after my grandmother passed away. My grandfather passed away in 2001, so opportunities to record some memories have been lost forever. The family still fondly recall the "When I was in the RAF...." tales, but this blog will mostly be the snippets from a journal, mixed with a bit of additional squadron history when appropriate.
Most of all though, so many thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I am truly grateful.

Today is 70 years since the luftwaffe's planned raid on the Marconi factory that was thwarted by 488(NZ) Squadron on what was their most successful nighttime of the war to date. broodyswar.wordpress.com/2014/03/21/21iii44/

My "project" of the last 16 months has now come to an end. You can read the final blog post here: broodyswar.wordpress.com/2014/09/18/the-end/I hope those of you who have read this blog have enjoyed it. I'm going to take a bit of a break now as I have some studying to get on with, but am considering expanding the site to include more information about 488(NZ) Squadron in general. Plans at the moment are: A google earth "KML" download of all the Squadron's UK based victories (aircraft only, no trains!) ORB transcription - probably only the diarised montly happenings, but I'm happy to X-Ref any particular flight / pilot / plane information from operational flights on an ad-hoc basis Transcription of Personal Combat Reports I'd love to know what you guys think of this and what other things you'd like to see included. Thanks for your support and feedback over the past year. Cheers, Adam
