Not only alive but working on aircraft and hangarage etc. Indeed was helping out with the Lancaster here that suffered storm damage earlier in the year. Sounds like we are ahead of the Mosquito, the props went back on here earlier this week.

PZ474 is, of all the Mosquito's I look forward to seeing fly. The others are special but this one is particularly. Cant wait to see how she looks all finished up!

If she is not going to attend any public displays before departing our shores, I wonder if there's any way of knowing when the test flights will occur (with a little notice). Might be worth the cost and effort of spending a couple of days in AK

I remember Andy telling me how excited they were that Rod Lewis had allowed them to go the 'full works' with PZ474 right down to the last details

Has anybody got any info about the squadron markings this is in & what time these markings pertain to? The EDSG over Sky says Banff wing to me but the Invasion stripes predate Mosquitos in the Banff wing afaik? Who is this one going to? Thanks, Steve.

A bit of internet browsing on the Banff Mosquitoes tells me that the Mosquitos with the red spinners were 235 Sqn while the ones with the yellow spinners were 143 Sqn. There was a picture of a 235 Sqn Mossie with invasion stripes that I saw, but it didn't have a date.
Awesome to see PZ474 running again, she does look good in those colours! Not only that but the engines are the original ones as well so that makes it the more amazing.

Wow she looks amazing. Just wait all the "expert' keyboard warriors will be complaining about the D-Day stripes. Personally I think make her stand out from all the others. Good on the owner!

Are you suggesting the D-day stripes are wrong for this plane Baz? I admit to having my doubts butif its good enough for Corgi, www.flyingmule.com/products/CG-AA32809 who've probably researched their wares reasonably well, I reckin its good enough for me. Either way its a stunning look. Good on Mr lewis for going with something like this. Steve.

If they were full invasion stripes, it would be in the period the day before D-day till sometime in July 1944 when permission was given to delete the upper surface stripes. At the time 235 was based at Portreath operating over the Bay of Biscay & Western English cannel approaches, so my assumption this scheme was only Banff wing is in error. Steve.

Are you suggesting the D-day stripes are wrong for this plane Baz? Oh no not at all but usually on forums (thankfully this one seems to have a more sensible following) someone will be complaining that some marking isn't right. I follow the rule: When you pay for a Spitfire or Mosquito or whatever then you can paint it whatever you want. It might not be accurate for this particular airframe but I'm sure a Mosquito flew in these markings or close to it. The interesting thing for me are those rocket stubs on the wings! Certainly a striking colour scheme.
