It took a while for the Brits (not the Yanks) to work out that you don't need a rocket to run along a launch rail when the platform they are being fired from is going at 300mph+. I wonder if they will fit the rails during the early test flights.

Talking of Rockets and Mosquitoes reminds me of the occasion of when 75 Squadron Mossies where given the job of sinking the remains of a decommissioned Frigate in the Bay of Plenty during the 1950's. Exact date I do not recall. I do however recall that after several attempts and many misses, the ship was still afloat. It was finally despatched by the Navy.

Trying to find an example of the Beau rails and mounts............ not so easy, same as the Meteor ones. Quite hard to find. Need four more for the Temora Meatbox

Must have had a change of plan, no rockets fired? Rockets have gone, those are the launch rails still under the wings. Steve. Of course!,i was thinking zero length launchers.

Here's a thought.... Next year the RAF Red Arrows are to be in the USA for a whole season. Wouldn't it be amazing if somehow it could be arranged for Mosquitoes KA114, TV959 and PZ474 to all get together somewhere and do a formation with the Red Arrows!!
What do you think?

The sight of that curving around a display line, rockets underwing, will be something special. Wow.

One really nice thing about the scheme on this is that it looks possible to model it from generic markings. I've long thought a Mosquito in a similar scheme is in my future, now I know which one I'll be looking to do. Thanks joesmith Steve.

Wow, Last time I saw that it was bare wood in the second hangar. Stunning work as ever, from the Avspecs team. So my question is..... Will it be there in Mid January, about the 18th?? A flight test would be good (Hint Hint) You can't keep me away from Godzone for too long

The ship sunk by the RNZAF Mossies (and it was in Cook Strait, not Bay of Plenty) was the "elderly dredge ARAHURA", which had been offered to the RNZAF to do with whatever they wanted; naturally they choose rockets. Eight Mosquitos led by Squadron Leader E C Gartrell, date 24th January 1952. Do not have to hand details of how ineffectual or otherwise this operation was, but the newspapers of the day might be more enlightening. David D
