Yes please as I am going to be ordering the 787 plus the A320 but haven't yet worked out which is the cheapest way to go. I was going to get from the USA but sounds like Aust might be a better option.

I wonder what type of stress was put on that airframe for the show and if we'll get a discount for that one due to shortened airframe life.

Can't people handle a flight for a few hours without indulging in their internet/connectivity addiction?
One really has to wonder how such folks coped before the days of mobile phones, internet-connected devices, etc.
Perhaps they were the "fidgety types" of people who couldn't sit still for more than a minute without fidgeting.

As someone who finds it impossible to sleep in an economy class seat I really wished the flights I took to Europe last year had in flight connectivity. Long haul flights are sooo tedius! I watched the few decent movies in the IFE system, then another couple I had preloaded in my iPad before flight and still ran out of stuff to do (and of course the return flight was even worse as I had already watched the movies!). Reading a book was impossible as the cabin was in darkness and the reading lamp was useless. and despite paying extra for a window seat, the blind had to be kept down so I couldnt see outside. I would have given anything to be able to do some web surfing! Maybe I am fidgety, but 23hrs is a long time to fill in!

I sympathise Bruce. I cannot sleep on a long-haul flight, as the seats are always cramped and uncomfortable. Movies are out, as the screen is too small, the background aircraft/cabin noise is too distracting and generally I find I get a seat where the screen does not work. What I do is visit a second-hand bookshop a few days before the flight and buy a few paperback novels for $5 or so each. I can then read these both during the endless waits at the airport and in-flight, and then throw each one away after I have read it. Airline 'In Flight Entertainment' is, in my view, a crock and pays no part in my flight selection. Can't people handle a flight for a few hours without indulging in their internet/connectivity addiction? I find it best to adopt a zen-like attitude - you are a widget in a conveyer-belt-line and just go with the flow. Despite the hype, airline travel is like a visit to the dentist, just look forward to the time you walk out the door once its all over.

I travelled from Wellington to Auckland yesterday, and for a change I caught the train. Now I admit that train trip on the Northern Explorer is very expensive and it is basically aimed at foreign tourists, but I used my being employed by KiwiRail to grab a "priv fare" with a 75% discount, so it was basically a wee bit cheaper than flying. However, it was an extremely relaxing trip and I spent a great day meeting lots of interesting people (including, unfortunately, a stuck-up American woman who was miffed that they didn't offer a first-class section so she wouldn't have to mix with the "common people", although she was the exception) with whom I had a really great time, while we sat back and watched the scenery, indulged in a few drinks along with some food to go with it. Okay, I admit I did fire up my laptop and go online a few times throughout the day, but that was because of the big news story of the day about a bunch of nutters shooting down an airliner full of innocent people, but if it hadn't been for that news event, I would have left my laptop in my bag.
I arrived in Auckland considerably more relaxed and mellowed out than if I had jumped on a 50-minute flight and put up with being crammed into a little metal tube in extremely close proximity with more than 100 other people after being subjected to the usual security bullshit, including having to take my laptop out of its bag.
