Now, for anyone who may be on this side of the Ditch on November 12 I have been told by a not so little bird that the Hurricane shall be the jewel at an open day to be held at Scone. It is to be flown, so far as my little bird says, together with one of the Temora Spitfires and also aircraft from Paul Bennet's stable. More news as it becomes available and confirmed.

What does Paul Bennett own, Ando? I'm afraid I have not heard of him.

He gets out to lots of country airshows, a very good Pitts team. From memory he owns some older types too? Sky Aces roll by Errol Cavit, on Flickr

TBM - sister ship to Plonky - T.28, Wirraway. There may be other machines from the Pay Collection flying as well. If that does happen possibly P.40 and Mustang in the mix. These aircraft are not seen all that often but are very welcome when they do get out.

What does Paul Bennett own, Ando? I'm afraid I have not heard of him. Paul is one of Noel Kruse's mates. He came over to race in the ill-fated International Air Show at North Shore in 2013. I think he owns (or owned) a T-28 Trojan and a TBM Avenger as well as the Wolf Pitts he displays in.

Despite a huge and prolonged thunderstorm that lasted from 0330 to about 0840 the skies cleared to a hot day for the Flight of the Hurricane. All the supporting acts flew with just a few changes in order and the star was certainly very, very well received. Never thought that I would ever see a Hurricane flying here - then again I thought the same about a Spit - and there were at least three Kiwis there who had flown over specifically to see her flying. They introduced themselves to me shouting up at the scaffolding where we were perched and it was great to know that they were there. Ross opened up the hangar twice during the day and let all and sundry in to see the two Spit Mk.IXs being rebuilt to fly. Both have amazing histories and will double the type's population here in a few years. Great effort by Ross' team, the guys and gals from Luskintyre and certainly great praise for John Brooks for backing the entire project to fruition. Judging by the numbers of photographers there every magazine in the known universe shall have coverage but only one asked if they could get some shots from our lofty perch!
