Oh, well....if it doesn't make it, I guess there's always Warbirds Over Wanaka next year.
But fingers crossed....you never know. Who can forget Tim Wallis' P-40 doing its first post-restoration test flight early in the morning in 1992 with Mark Hanna at the controls, then being displayed in the airshow hours later? It was still bare metal....that's how close that one was.

Just seen a new video on Facebook of a certain Spitfire......an hour ago outside engine running! Looks like those engine "accessories" did the trick as she sounded great, awesome exhaust flames too! Fly my pretty fly! See you guys up there (or down there depending on where you are!

There's a great little interview with Ryan Southam on the Marlborough Express page today: www.stuff.co.nz/marlborough-express/news/67587593/Plane-like-a-trolley-with-a-broken-wheelIt's all about flying the Nieuport - also named as a Newport - of Classic Wings/Graham Orphan, and how he will be flying Graham's Focker Wulf triplane against it and a Pup at the show. In the story Graham also talks about NH799, explaining it's arriving at Omaka on Friday to stay for good. Great news about the video, I have to find it now! I only saw the pretty picture of her sitting outside in the lights. Very cool! All going well, today's the day!

It was still bare metal....that's how close that one was. And, from memory, NH799 never arrived at Wanaka until Good Friday of the 1994 show! So this particular airframe has prior experience of making airshow fans into nailbiters.

Yes going to the wire but here's hoping it makes it - I'm just about to wing it over the ditch. Will keep an eye out for any meet ups for those going to the show

My Omaka countdown is in full swing - less than 2hr til knock-off and travel to Wanganui for a powernap, drive to Wellington to catch the 2.30am ferry....isn't aviation madness a wonderful thing?

Will be flying into Woodbourne via DC-3 on Saturday morning then bussing over to the Gold Stand. Looking forward to it now, if NH799 can get there too it will be just the cherry on top.

Just saw a red tailed Harvard heading south over Tokoroa 08:55 this morning - right now in fact! Lovely blue skies and light winds up here in the Waikato. Enjoy the weekend folks!! Some are slow to get publishing this morning, but I'm sure someone will open a new thread today, to separate reality from the hopes!! LOL!

Great 9 Fokker practice just after 8am (8 Dr.I's plus D.VII) And early start made it much easier to get close to the black Dr.I and new Albatros D.V on flightline. Also got close to Bleriot
