Great! How long will it be a work in progress? And is/when is the Avenger going in the main hangar?

The painting will be done over the next 10 days. We have confirmed 104 ops and a mana parachute will be painted onto the nose. The Avenger is all set to come on display but with a new MOTAT strategy released this week expect some delays.

The GH Leader tail bands are being painted now, so hopefully pictures of the finished work will be posted next week. Jon Pote and FWX are putting an article together for MoTAT to release.
A dedication service will be held during the afternoon of June 8 . More details to follow later.

Thanks for the update - she looks amazing I think S-Sugar at Hendon is the only 'ton up' surviving Lanc? Can anyone confirm this?

Great stuff Peter, Jon, Chris and all involved. I will definitely try to get up to the event, if I can.

Wow! Terrific move by MoTaT considering NE181 was slated for preservation here post war, but never made it.
Yep, complete one. Although W4783 in Canberra flew some 90 sorties over enemy territory.

From what I recall S-Sugar was the Lancaster with the second highest number of sorties, by accident the highest had been scrapped although part of that Lancaster's rear fuselage does survive.
