A question put forward regarding Lockheed Orion propeller markings, dose anyone here have a close up photo, this is for a very talented painter for flight simulations KBT P3 Orion , JensOle from the Norway - his question below
"Another question, do any of you know the new triangular decal seen on Orion propeller blades? Back in the days it was just the hamilton standard badge, but on newer blades there is a new decal. For me it might seem like a danger decal which conforms to the ISO warning signs"

Any possibility that the mysterious decal is somehow related to the new 'owner' of Hamilton Standard?
(Below quotation from Wikipeida; note, Hamilton Standard was merged with the Sunstrand Corporation in 1999, but remained a Division of United Technologies Corporation, the latter presumably being the original owner of HS since 1929, although then known as United Aircraft & Transport Corporation, later restyled as simply United Aircraft Corporaation or UAC.)
"In 2012 Hamilton Sundstrand merged with Goodrich Corporation to become UTC Aerospace Systems."

Some of the RNZAF P-3s' props have the Safe Air logo on them, since the prop shop overhauls the 54H60 props. You can see it as the oval badge on the left hand prop on '03 here. The RH one has no badges. This photo was taken a number of years ago, mind.

Thanks nuuumann shows there is no specific ISO or company safety standard, you really could not see them if they are spinning unless me/you were superman, thing is also the simple ware and tear on the surfaces, I believe we may have found the reason for the changes, think all we need now is close up photo's .. and of all things this is to apply to a Flight Simulation model. Come to think .. good close up photos, the cockpit interior, I may have have to start a new thread unless someone can allow me to photo a P3 when one arrives in Christchurch, all this again to rebuild a 3D virtual cockpit for Flight Simulation.

I think it's fairly safe to say you wont be able to photograph inside a P3K2!

Is that not a P-3K2 in Perth, which the news casts have shown lots of footage inside? I was wondering about whether that was a K or a K2 at the time.

I think it's fairly safe to say you wont be able to photograph inside a P3K2! Its only the cockpit needed, all the wizzo stuff down the back I don't need, but would not be bad to get some snipples, maybe secret spy me needs another door, by the way I did not say that and I totally refuse to say that i did

According to an official website that I quoted recently (in the MH370 thread??), we don't have any P-3K's left operational, the last two (now one?) being in the process of being converted.

The P3K is no longer in service. They are all officially P3K2 now.

If you'd like a close up photo of the Safe Air badge, Ian, all I have is this one of one of ZK-AMY's props, also overhauled at Safe. Each 54H60 overhauled at Safe is generally stickered with their logo, but they probably wear off over time. I have an image of the interior of a P-3K flight deck, but, as expected, can't help with K2, sorry.

The label that Jens is talking about is probably the Pacific Props emblem. They overhaul a lot of 54H60 props for the European market. You can see the label on various props in this clip on their website. www.pacprop.com/multimedia.htmlPhoto of an old version of their label.
